An increasing number of people from different cultures and corners of the world come to our city, often forced to abandon their beloved gardens. We decided to share with them a precious part of what Poznań has to offer – the vast green areas of family allotment gardens. We used one of them to form DOM – Działkowy Ogród Międzykulturowy [Intercultural Allotment Garden] where by cultivating land one can experiment with different kinds of edible plants, get some perspective on everyday worries surrounded by nature in the city, but also practice inter-cultural integration and meet with different generations.
DOM gives an opportunity to families with refugee or migration background as well as Poznań inhabitants to care for their garden patches. We cultivate edible, medicinal and decorative plants as well as wild-growing ones in the spirit of permaculture and biodynamics. We also organize open cultural, educational and animation events for local inhabitants, other garden owners and our multicultural family here at DOM. During Malta, there will be a picnic with culinary workshops, during which we will exchange recipes, taste dishes and listen to a concert.
